Homemade Jam Recipe | Caramel Apple Jam

Caramel Apple Jam

6 c. diced peeled apples
1/2 c. water
1/2 tsp. butter
1 package (1-3/4 ounces) powdered fruit pectin
3 c. sugar
2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg

  1. Note: Ever since I got my apple peeler, I use it whenever I am peeling and chopping a lot of apples. For this recipe I used the apple peeler and slicer, and then I chopped the apples into smaller pieces.
  2. I found, however, that I didn’t like how thin the pieces of apple turned out. When I made my apple pie jam I chopped up the apple pieces into cubes, and I think I liked that consistency better in the jam, so I will chop them by hand next time.
  3. In a large heavy sauce pan combine the apples, water, and butter. Cook, stirring occasionally, over low heat until the apples are soft and tender. Stir in the powdered pectin.
